This thing we call hair....

Hello World,

We meet again. Today I would like to discuss my adventures with my hair and its issues. We will cover olive oil, coconut oil, honey & cinnamon.

One thing I have learned in the past month is less washing your hair with shampoo and more conditioner on your ends. People mistake putting conditioner on their roots & then the next day their hair feels all oily. BINGO that is why, try not conditioning your roots. Condition your ends. If you are going through a dry phase with this cruel winter and hot summer I suggest protective hairstyles with oil. We shall talk about that later :)

Olive Oil:
So the last salon I went to told me to try to do an olive oil treatment every two weeks to moisturize my hair. At first this can be very messy but it is worth it. I would wet my hair, apply as much olive oil as I would like (messy) put a shower cap on and watch a TV show for 30-45 minutes. Then I'd get into the shower wash the oil off my hair (at first your hair will feel rough) make sure you get all the extra oil out. AND DON'T SLIP AND FALL! Comb your hair afterwards, let it air dry. You can also put your hair in a protective hair stye to keep the moisture in. Once it dries you will realize how soft your hair feels. This softness should last a few days. **I have not tried hot oil**

Coconut Oil:
I use this stuff daily! I love it that much. It helps a lot with frizzing without making your hair look oily. I feel like this is a must have for every female. You can also use natural coconut oil for your skin. This oil is great as a conditioner or just a leave in treatment for the day.

Honey:
I heard honey was great to soften your hair and moisturize it at the same time, so I applied honey to my DRY hair. It felt very stick of course but after leaving it in for 30 minutes and showering, it did in deed make my hair soft (it also helped moisturize my face). Now it did take a bit of washing out because it was sticky but it was totally worth it. Honey also helps with brightening your hair.

Cinnamon:
I used Cinnamon with a Shea butter conditioner to lighten my hair. Cinnamon will give your hair a reddish tint. They said keep it on for a minimum of 4 hours, I kept mine in for 1 hour and it had already made the top of my head lighter! This is some strong stuff. It is also very messy and hard to clean up. You have to wash your hair longer to get all the cinnamon out of it but the great part is that it does lighten your hair up and you'll smell like Cinnamon HEHE :)

One thing I will say... Protective Hair Styles! Search them... Do them... It really does help. I tend to braid my hair when I see its getting dry or if I see split ends. Try a few of these at home products out they will help :)
